    The Bryan Museum is seeking an experienced Grant Writer to identify, write, and secure grant funding that both supports existing operations and programs and enables expansion in pursuit of The Bryan Museum’s mission. This position is responsible for all phases of grants development, management, evaluation, and compliance, including research, grant writing, the coordination of grant applications, post award acknowledgement, support for grant-funded projects, and successfully closing out grant projects with final budget and report outcomes to stakeholders. The Grant Writer will actively research and pursue prospective public and private funding sources, while developing relationships with potential funders. The ideal candidate has a proven record of successful grant writing and awarding; is knowledgeable of funding cycles, pertinent foundations, and the grant process; and has exceptional writing and communication skills.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate, write, and edit grant proposals, letters of intent, acknowledgement letters, and final reports, exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling, and ensure timely submission.
    • Research and identify new corporation, foundation, private, and government funding prospects as well as other grant opportunities that match the objectives of the organization.
    • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, its programs, and objectives, and reflect this understanding in all grant-related documents.
    • Collaborate with development, education, and finance colleagues to gather data and information needed for the purposes of grant writing and accurate reporting.
    • Maintain an accurate record of pending, existing, prospective, and past grants across the organization.
    • Manage and maintain a grants calendar for timely submissions, proposal deadlines, and reports ensuring all deadlines are met. Maintains primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking grants.
    • Develops and maintains a grant management system for funded grants that includes report due dates, budget adherence, and any other grant requirements.
    • Manage the process of supplying progress reports by a grant-making organization that has funded a project or program.
    • Maintain timely and accurate records within Raiser’s Edge CRM.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • At least 3 years of experience as a successful nonprofit grant writer with a proven record of being awarded multiple grants in excess of 200K.
    • Knowledge of grant application processes, scoring criteria, funding cycles, and funding sources.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising and strategies.
    • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
    • CRM Donor Database experience, Raiser’s Edge preferred.
    • Ability to study and understand Museum programs and funding requirements of the organization.
    • Ability to set goals and complete duties and assignments under deadlines.
    • High degree of initiative with ability to find solutions and work under pressure.
    • Self-starter with ability to work well independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills to establish and maintain effective/professional relationships with colleagues, donors, and organizers.
    • Maintains confidentiality and security of all information.

    Schedule: 9am – 5pm

    Work Remotely: Yes. Required routinely to be on site to meet in person with staff.
