    SUMMARY: Keeps the Museum’s facilities and grounds clean and in a safe and orderly condition. 


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Maintains cleanliness and minor/routine repair of buildings. Cleans, sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums as needed. 


    Maintains cleanliness of grounds by removing litter emptying trash and garbage containers. 


    Assists the Facilities Manager with projects and routine maintenance to ensure timely completion.


    Paint and perform repairs/replacements on buildings (interior and exterior), boardwalks, fencing and other physical property. Help guide other staff and volunteers to assist.


    Notifies Facilities Manager concerning needs for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, ventilation and equipment.


    Performs ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds and fallen branches, raking, distributing mulch, erosion control, planting, trail and road upkeep and removing litter. 


    Helps implement Facilities Manager directives related to maintenance and facilities activities.


    Works with the Facilities Manager and Assistant Facilities Manager along with all departments and volunteers to coordinate the physical preparation (set-up), successful implementation related to facilities and maintenance needs, and recovery (clean-up) for programs including meetings, parties, events (on and off grounds) and public presentations (on and off grounds). 


    Ensures that the museum property and exhibits are opened and visitor-ready on schedule, and secure when closed. Ensures that all electronic security systems are properly armed/disengaged as scheduled. Properly uses, maintains and cares for tools and properly stores them when done.


    Assists other facilities staff with projects and activities as needed. Is responsive to the maintenance requests of Museum personnel.


    Ensures the safety of staff and visitors while performing work;


    Other duties as assigned.


    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    High School Diploma or equivalent; and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees and managers of the organization.


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with l's and l0's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.


    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Valid Florida driver's license and safe driving record.
