    Job Description


    POSITION TITLE: Development Coordinator

    DIVISION: Band E

    SUPERVISOR: Senior Director, Marketing & Development

    CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

    STATUS: Full-Time


    PURPOSE:


    This role exists to engage in and facilitate the organization's marketing and development efforts. These efforts include annual fundraising campaigns, social media campaigns to raise awareness, community outreach including the maintenance and development of donor relations, event planning and execution, internal relationship building with campaigns to boost staff participation and morale, as well as additional as needed activities related to furthering the successful development and marketing of the organization.


    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:


    PARTICIPATE IN FUND DEVELOPMENT:

    • Develop relationships and maintain communication with our main supporting organizations. Submit annual requests to these organizations.

    • Serve as DSI representative at regional chambers and clubs as requested.

    • Maintain stock of promotional items and secure auction items for events.

    • Increase contributions given by individuals to the annual fund through many campaign avenues, including Network for Good giving software, social media, direct mail, and face-to-face solicitations.

    • Strengthen relationships with our major stakeholders.

    • Assist with researching and writing grants.

    • Organize and oversee fundraising events with the assistance of the marketing team, as needed. Increase revenue, sponsorships, participation, and exposure for our events. Launch new events as warranted in outlying communities.

    • Assist with interdepartmental events by creating programs, signage, videos, etc. as needed.


    PROMOTE DISABILITY AWARENESS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY:


    • Distribute marketing materials to local businesses, chambers, clubs, and community organizations to increase public awareness of DSI’s services.
    • Present Disabilities Awareness Program to groups in the community.

    • Plan and implement donor and volunteer recognition initiatives.

    • Maintain network of volunteers and coordinate schedules with them as needed.

    • Create and/or distribute additional marketing materials, as needed.

    • Complete at least four (4) relationship-building opportunities in different outlying areas monthly (county meetings, visits to facility locations, work on county activities/events, self-advocacy groups, etc.)

    • Maintain general understanding of the Mission and operation of the agency and its services.

    • Represent the people we serve in a positive way by scheduling presentations and tours to promote DSI.


    COLLECT AND MAINTAIN DATA/TRACKING:


    • Maintain up-to-date donor database on Network for Good.
    • Ensure proper maintenance and retention of records regarding fund and resource development (monetary and in-kind donations) on Network for Good.

    • Track fundraising efforts/results and complete summary reports.

    • Track the expenditures associated with any grant, ensuring that the funds received were used as promised and report back to the grantor how the funds were used.

    • Maintain a working knowledge of program related development software.

    • Complete weekly progress reports for supervisor


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

    • Knowledge of best practices for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.

    • Ability to work flexible, non-standard hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

    • Ability to complete and assist with administrative tasks relating to the department, including but not limited to, the preparation of the budget, organization goal-setting, and strategic planning activities, as needed.

    • Willingness to help with additional duties as assigned including interdepartmental needs.

    • Maintain personal transportation to and from meetings and events in and around the entire service area.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, English, or a related field required. Tenured experience in marketing and or public relations will also be considered.
