Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Development Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Development Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     River Edge is currently seeking a full-time energetic and enthusiastic Director of Development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing a fundraising campaign to support the River Edge Foundation short- and long-term program goals and maintain knowledge of fundraisers' interests and cultivate relationships with fellow employees and volunteers. You will be an active participant in fundraising events, undertake vision meeting, and maintain a social media presence.

    The successful applicant will build lasting relationships with donors and keep them informed on how their financial input is making the world a better place. Preferred candidates will be self-motived, deadline-driven multitaskers.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the board of directors to create and implement a fundraising plan. Works with the CEO and foundation chair to determine fundraising and priorities and financial goals. 
    • Sets annual monetary goals and implementation plans to align short- and long-term goals. Establishes fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one year, five year, and longer-term goals.
    • Manage and maintain development software, which houses the database of potential financial donors including corporations, foundations, and individuals. Collaborate and monitor staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.
    • Produces relevant and informative fundraising literature for distribution to previous and current, donors as well as the public. Collaborating with the communications team to develop a digital fundraising strategy.
    • Research potential sources of, and applies for, grants and public funding to support River Edge Behavior Health and or River Edge Foundation goals. Furnishing board of directors with regular progress reports on fundraising initiatives, goal obtainment and recommendations for adjustments.
    • Oversees the fundraising process and maintains records of receipts and disbursements of funds.
    • Develop 'friend-raising" events that provide fiscal growth and engagement of new/current donors. Events must be mission relevant, donor educational, and cost effective. Collaborating with a network to identify and build relationships with new donors.
    • Obtain financial support from individuals within the or organization to meet of exceed R.E.A.C.H. goals. Generating development materials such as grants and giving statements.
    • Create, or supervise volunteer or contractor, timely printed, email and social media communications to donors and prospects that communicate case for support and impact of gifts. 
    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field
    • At least five (5) years in fundraising for a nonprofit organization highly profit organization (preferred)
    • At least two (2) years of relevant managerial experience preferred.
    • All applicants must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.
    • Provide 2 Professional references (Former employers only, no family members)
    • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge in mental health and substance abuse services and community resources. 
    • Exemplify excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
