Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of staff in a diagnostic imaging department such as nuclear medicine, MRI, radiology, computer-assisted tomography or ultrasound. Monitors the adherence to all diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and services. Being a Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree, certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.   • Position Summary:
    The Imaging Center Supervisor (ICS) will assist in the administrative and oversight of all technologists and support staff at the Imaging Center (IC).    
     
    Qualifications:

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Qualified as a Radiologic Technologist, or Mammography Technologist in One of Three ways:
      • Completion of a 24-month AMA approved and accredited school of Radiologic Technology or;
      • Completion of a 24-month AMA approved and accredited school of Radiologic Technology and Mammography or;
      • Bachelor's degree program in Radiology, with previous history working as a Radiologic Technologist, and/or a Mammography Technologist.

    Experience

    • Three (3) years’ Imaging Services experience in a hospital setting required.
    • Previous supervisory experience required.

    Licensure/Certification/Registration

    • Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required; additional registration in another imaging discipline preferred, either ARRT, or ARDMS
    • Certification under the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Assist technologists in daily issues with patient registration, patient orders and medical information as well as the Electronic Health Record (EHR), including scheduled patient issues, or any issue pertaining to, but not limited to the overall workflow of the IC.
    • Functions as a working supervisor who will also perform technologist duties in their modality discipline. 
    • Includes preparation for any scheduled inspection or quality audits, perform exams and produce images of specific body parts and will position patients utilizing immobilization and protective equipment as required for desired exam/procedure outcome. 
    • Assist the radiologists with procedure performance, start IVs, load and operate power injectors, and administer contrast media as directed.
    • Evaluate images for technical quality, collating and labeling appropriately prior to transmission to the PACS product.
    • Other duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with scheduling of patients, providing orientation and training to new technologists onsite as well as student technologists.
    • In the absence of the Asst. Director and Director of Imaging Services, the ICS will schedule and meet with any maintenance, service, or sales representatives to assist in the attention of any Facility, or Facility equipment issue and system(s) need(s) reporting outcomes to the Asst. Director, or Director of Imaging Services.
    • Recommend various personnel action(s) as well as Policy and Procedure changes to the Assistant Director, and Director of Imaging Services including, but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, scheduling and monitoring to ensure adequate training for new hires. 
    • Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
    • Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, other supervisors, physicians, and department heads.
    • Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
    • Consistently display effective verbal communication skills.  
    • Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills is required.
