Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     What You’ll Do

    In this role, you’ll help to repair a variety of construction equipment including diesel trucks, trailers, excavators, dozers & more!  You’ll learn the inner workings of each piece of equipment, become an expert at what you do, and expand your skillset by working on different equipment each day. By doing so, you’ll play an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.  

     

    If you’re someone who has a few years of mechanic experience or equivalent education, have safety as your priority, love to problem solve and troubleshoot, and takes pride in rolling up your sleeves to get the job done, this is the career path for you.

     

    Location: Salem- Hilroy yard.

     

    Wage: $30-36.50/hr DOE w/ potential for overtime during our busy season, plus $1.50/hr shift differential.

     

    Shift: Swing Shift, full time. 12pm-12am M-F. Weekends and overtime may be needed due to business demands.

     

    What You Can Do (Minimum and Preferred Qualifications)

    Minimum Qualifications

    • At least 3-5 years’ mechanic experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience with diagnosis and troubleshooting on electrical, hydraulic, and air systems.
    • Have a valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to provide your own tools.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
    • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
    • Demonstrates the willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
    • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior construction-related experience.
    • Experience with Windows, Excel, Word, Cat ET, Cummins Insite, and Detroit Programs.

    Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

    • Troubleshoots problems, making economical and durable repairs to heavy equipment, trucks, shop, and non-mobile equipment.
    • Dismantles equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
    • Services vehicles/equipment to include oil changes, greasing, adding fluids, changing filters, and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drive trains, etc.
    • Operates computer for job functions.
    • Starts equipment to test their performance.
    • Will perform basic welding procedures.
    • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
    • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
    • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
    • Regular and timely attendance.
