Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Diesel Mechanic Dearborn, MI. 1st shift: 7:00am-3:30pm or 9:30am to 6:00pm
Pay Rate: $24- $26 No certs but willing ness to obtain. $28-$30 per hr. with two or more certs.
Will also take OEM Trained techs on like vehicles i.e.. Freightliner, Cummins etc.

Responsibilities• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties• Performs standard vehicle maintenance• Performs standard component inspections and repairs (Inspection Certification a plus.)• Performs preventive maintenance• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable, strong diagnostic skills preferred.• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required• Replaces defective components as instructed• Performs facility maintenance duties• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
