Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Our client in Selmer, TN is looking for a Diesel Mechanic. Pay is $15hr Mon-Fri 7am-5:30pm some Saturdays working 7am-12pm.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be people-oriented with a professional & positive attitude, able to learn and undertake a variety of tasks, as well as answer phones and complete data entry in our computer system.
This person must be comfortable working around truck drivers and mechanics personnel in a shop setting.
This person will work directly with the shop supervisor.
Some mechanical, technical, parts knowledge is preferred. Basic computer skills required. Organizational skills a must.
Diagnose and repair diesel engines.
Inspect and test engine components.
Install, repair, and maintain wiring systems.
Repair or replace damaged or defective parts.
Use tools such as torque wrenches, engine analyzers, and cleaning solvents.
Install and repair hydraulic systems.
Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines.
