Job Description :

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Collections Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing and collections, with proficiency in Athenahealth's billing software and a strong background in daily deposits and reconciliation processes.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our healthcare facility while providing exceptional service to our patients.

Responsibilities :

• Utilize Athenahealth's billing software to manage medical billing and collections processes efficiently.
• Review and process insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with billing regulations.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and denied or rejected claims, working closely with insurance companies to resolve issues and secure timely payments.
• Generate patient invoices, statements, and notices for outstanding balances, explaining billing details and payment options to patients as needed.
• Handle incoming payments from patients and insurance companies, recording payments accurately and updating billing systems accordingly.
• Conduct daily deposits and reconcile payment records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Manage collections activities, including contacting patients with overdue balances to arrange payment plans or negotiate settlements.
• Maintain accurate records of billing and collection activities, including payment history, correspondence, and agreements made with patients or insurance companies.
• Address patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly, providing excellent customer service at all times.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field preferred or 3 plus years work experience.
• Minimum of X years of experience in medical billing and collections, with specific experience using Athenahealth's billing software.
• Proficiency in daily deposits and reconciliation processes, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of medical billing regulations, including HIPAA, and experience navigating insurance billing and reimbursement processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and colleagues.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive patient information.
