Sun Mountain Lodge (SML) is looking for a Director of Engineering. The Chief Engineer, Maintenance will oversee the maintenance operations by identifying requirements, forecasting resources, providing oversight for construction projects, capital improvement projects, and daily repair tasks. They are also responsible for maintenance and repair of all buildings, including interior, exterior and all vital systems (HVAC, plumbing, mechanical).
The Director of Engineer will develop and implement strategies that will maximize the financial performance of the company, while maintaining company standards and regulatory requirements.
Successful Candidate Responsibilities:
- Manage all maintenance, exterior facility, and interior facility workloads of the business, including but not limited to, daily repairs both interior and exterior, preventative maintenance programs.
- Build, implement and oversee a maintenance strategy program for SML facilities including buildings and equipment that includes corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, risk-based maintenance, and condition-based maintenance.
- Conduct inspections of the facilities and identify and resolve issues.
- Check systems of buildings, water plant, etc. to ensure functionality.
- Oversee Pool and Hot Tub equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Ensures that the administration of the department is in compliance with all corporate and brand standards and all federal, state and local laws.
- Ensure all maintenance processes are consistent with industry regulations and EHS standards.
- Responsible leadership of staff members, including recruiting, hiring, training, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for the department.
- Perform supervisory tasks of a team, including resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, and performance management
- Oversees, delegates, and performs as necessary maintenance and repair work on equipment.
- Completes and maintains certification training in Water System Testing programs.
- Perform tasks efficiently and in compliance with all safety rules and regulations
- Uses and reinforces safe chemical handling in addition to following and adhering to MSDS practices and procedures as outlined by GWR standards, OSHA, EPA, Green Seal, and Federal, State, and Local laws.
- Maintains records and documentation according to corporate, industry, and government standards.
- Plans and completes shutdowns by coordinating with the Lodge General Manager, and associated contractors.
- Monitors work order volume and prioritizes assignments for team, as necessary.
- Inspects work assignments by maintenance staff to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, self-starter and the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple issues at one time.
- 6-10 years’ experience in general maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, construction or hospitality maintenance.
- 6 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
- Solid understanding of technical aspects of machines, gas and diesel equipment (tractor, snow plow, etc.), plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
- Working knowledge of chemicals, tools, equipment, and supplies used in providing comprehensive building/hotel maintenance services.
- Successful completions of criminal background check
- Availability to work flexible hours and varied shifts including weekends and holidays, as required.
- Previous resort maintenance experience a plus.
- Expert at hands-on equipment maintenance.
- Able to develop, implement, and monitor programs that adhere to all appropriate regulations, including Emergency Response, Injury and Illness Prevention, and Hazard Communications.

Salary: $83,274.00 - $93,340.00 per year
