We are seeking a Commercial or Industrial Lead HVAC Technician for direct hire role with a top tier mechanical company in Birmingham, AL
- Pay is $35 -$45/h depending on experience and certification

Duties and Responsibilities of Lead HVAC Technician- Safely performs tasks of the highest complexity within the maintenance, service and repair of cooling systems and their associated components.
- The technician performs diagnostics, maintenance and service repairs on air- and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, rotary screw chillers, large built-up systems, cooling towers as well as complex modifications of associated systems and components.
- Diagnoses, repairs, replaces, adjusts, and monitors controls on chillers and associated components for various manufacturers, i.e. York, McQuay, Trane, Carrier, etc.
- Repairs components and performs complex modifications of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components, including compressors, cooling towers, motors, pumps, fans, piping, transducers, flow switches, low pressure chillers, economizers, variable speed drivers, etc.
- Repair leaks, leak test & add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure on all systems.
- Uses various fault detection and diagnostic measurement tools to test and inspect equipment including, but not limited to, air flow, static pressure, fluid flow, refrigerant diagnostics and wet/dry bulb temperature.
- May repair and service other types of air-conditioners, ranging from split/package units, water source units, etc.
Qualifications for Lead HVAC Technician:
- Five or more years of actual commercial/industrial HVAC experience as it relates to chiller systems as described in job overview.
- Demonstrate in depth knowledge of cooling systems and associated components outlined in this job description.
- Ability and willingness to travel to attend training directly related to increasing job related skills.
- Ability to support after hour emergencies and planned activities as need.
- Universal CFC certification is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet MVR requirements to operate company vehicle.
- Must be available for some overtime, on-call, and weekend work, especially during spring and summer.
