Mycelium Magicians at Ecovative are seeking a Sourcing Specialist to partner with the team to develop a
sourcing strategy for our various technology applications. This includes identify raw material vendors,
create relationships with the industry of material providers, and secure raw material partnerships to drive
research and scale-up capacity.

The essential functions performed in this role include:
! Develop a strategic approach to new supplier selection and material management process
! Negotiate competitive supply contracts on key supply components.
! Partner with key collaborators to develop and drive process improvements that add value and

efficiency to our sourcing strategy
! Identify sources and vendors for raw materials, inclusive of biomass and grain used in the

production of spawn, in the US and internationally served markets.
! Determine the best means of procuring raw materials (spot market or contract), including

secondary storage and processing as necessary.
! Identify new sources of raw materials to meet new company initiatives (e.g., organic). This

involves collaborating with the research and operations teams to complete relevant qualification
tests.

! Assess and mitigate supply chain risk to the business.
! Develop an in-depth understanding of raw material and spawn processing parameters and the

equipment that Ecovative employs to produce these products. This includes understanding what
other industries employ to a similar end to dimension other partnership opportunities.

! Maintain a library and database of raw materials, vendors, and key considerations for each.
! Identify and qualify vendors for the production of Ecovative’s substrates to enable product scale-

up and production.
! Collaborate with Ecovative’s partners and licensees to support these aforementioned activities.

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies
! Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, business management, or related field with minimum

3 years substrate sourcing experience
! Experience developing industry partnerships with key vendors and licensees
! Ability to derive insights from data and to use insights to drive business and partner

recommendations
! Exceptional relationship-building, interpersonal and communication skills that translate into

strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
! Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of an organization
! Adapts quickly to new technology, including Google Apps platform and agile use of Slack
! Willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies

! Experience in biomaterials, biotech, materials, manufacturing or agriculture-based environment.
! Minimum of 1 year experience working with startups
