Director of International Education jobs in New York, NY

Director of International Education leads and directs all aspects of the institution's international programs. Oversees programs, activities, faculty affairs, and academic support services. Being a Director of International Education develops and implements strategies to attract and retain students and faculty. Oversees the operations of the study abroad and foreign exchange programs, the international admissions process, and English language programs. Additionally, Director of International Education ensures that the curriculum remains current and is in compliance with accreditation standards. Monitors the documentation and visa application processes. Oversees the departmental budget and management of expenditures throughout the year. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Director of International Education typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • iBRAIN is one of the largest brain-injury special education programs in the world based in New York City (locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn) and is expanding to add an out-patient clinic as well as growing its research efforts for the brain injury and brain-based disorders community. iBRAIN’s mission is to research, develop and implement special education and related services for students with brain injury and brain-based disorders.

    Position Title: Special Education Deputy Director

    Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Special Education Director of iBRAIN, with wide latitude for independent judgment and decision-making, the Special Education Deputy Director will ensure the academic standards and implementation of each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) in the development of such IEPs and regularly assess its implementation. In addition, this person will also assist in developing new curriculum and programs for iBRAIN. This person will also have management responsibilities within the two current school-based programs located in New York City.

    Desirable attributes include clinical experience with acquired brain injury, management of interdisciplinary teams, a strong foundation of research skills, keen strategic focus. The successful individual is a natural leader who fosters an environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement, effective, transparent communication with key constituents and stakeholders, and accountability for results.

    Reports to: Special Education Director

    Location: New York City (Upper East Side in Manhattan and Sunset Park in Brooklyn)

    Key Relationships: The Special Education Deputy Director works closely with the staff, management, parents, donors, doctors, educators, therapists, media, and the brain injury community at-large.

    Responsibilities

    · Works as part of management team in order to fulfill the organization’s mission

    · Assist in the development of each student’s IEP as part of a multi-disciplinary team

    · Ensure the academic standards are maintained and quality assurance for each student’s program through regular monitoring, assessing and training

    · Enhancement of current program and development of new curriculum and assessments to ensure the use of best practices

    · Develop and implement professional development programs to ensure adherence to organizational standards of service, policies and procedures

    · Develop new programming to improve the student, staff and parents’ experiences

    · Recruiting, hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff

    · Evaluate performance and employee discipline

    · Monitor compliance with legal guidelines

    · Ensure compliance and follow through with directives, policies, and procedures pertaining to education and related documents

    · Timely reporting of emergent issues or concerns relating to students, policies, procedures or documents to pertinent supervisor

    · Facilitation of regular communication within and between departments

    Required Qualifications

    · Master’s degree and NYS certification in special education

    · Previous experience with acquired brain injury population

    · Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff

    · Strong written and oral communication skills

    · Strong public speaking ability

    · Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy

    · Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

    · Transparent and high integrity leadership

    · High level strategic thinking and planning

    · Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, management, volunteers and donors

    · Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community

    · MUST HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR

    Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
