    POSITION MISSION
    The Mission of the Program Director is to build and lead a highly skilled and effective program team; with this team, design and deliver engaging, high quality, culturally responsive experiential programming for young people that empowers, supports the growth of diverse relationships, and develops culturally responsive socioemotional skills and equitable leadership skills; throughout, developing and nurturing authentic and consistent relationships with those young people and their families.

    1. Program staff hiring, training, evaluation, and coaching/development
    2. Program design, delivery, and continuous improvement
    3. Volunteer recruitment, training, management
    4. Family and participant recruitment and engagement

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Leading a fun, hands-on training for our summer program team.
    • Designing curriculum and creating a program plan for an upcoming middle school program.
    • Conducting a program quality and equity assessment and making a plan for improvement.
    • Providing feedback and coaching to a program team member.
    • Calling participant families to recruit for our high school leadership program.

    REPORTING & RELATIONSHIPS
    The Program Director reports to the Executive Director. The Program Director leads the Program Leadership Team. The Program Director may supervise directly or indirectly a Program Coordinator and other direct service sta and volunteers.

    POSITION AVAILABILITY

    • The responsibilities of this position generally require 35-40 hours of work per week.
    • During the summer season, this is a 24-hour on-call position. You will work onsite at our overnight camp programs throughout Wisconsin for 3-5 weeks.
    • Some programming occurs on weekday nights and weekends during the school year.

    CERTIFICATIONS

    • Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required within the first 30 days of employment. Unity in Motion will cover the cost of this certification.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Experiential Education/Programming Expertise - Knowledge of experiential education and cutting-edge youth development practices
    • Program Facilitation Skills - Proven ability to facilitate experiential youth programming and mentoring
    • 2-3 years of successful supervisory and management experience.
    • Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally with strong interpersonal skills and cross-cultural proficiencies.
    • Strong computer skills, ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results and proficiency in Google applications.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000
    • 6 weeks paid time o.
    • Professional development and training stipend.
    • Annual compensation is calculated to include money to reasonably purchase health, dental and vision insurance. The employee has the choice to use this money to purchase these benefits or retain as additional monetary compensation. Unity in Motion will refer all new employees to a licensed professional benefit expert upon request.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Must be physically and mentally able to meet the challenges of navigating and working in a remote, natural, camp setting.
    • This position lives on-site during the summer.
    • Must be comfortable working in an office setting in the “off-season”, situated in an urban setting in the community we serve.

    • This is an extremely entrepreneurial and creative role that requires someone highly self-motivated.
    • This is a small team, you will spend a lot of time working with and interacting with the Executive Director.
    • Please consider the varying work environment of this position. You’ll spend some of your work week working remotely, some in-person in an oce or remote workspace, and some out in the “field” connecting with stakeholders and facilitating programming.
    • In a small team, you’ll need to wear many hats. You will have to transition between these hats rapidly. You may be mitigating a serious parent complaint one moment, plunging a toilet the next, drafting a curriculum for our next leadership seminar, and ending the day leading a game of capture the flag.
    • At times you will be the primary program facilitator for our teen leadership program, community reunions, and more. You’ll be providing programming directly to our young people. Please consider if you’re passionate about this part of the role.
    • You’ll live and work onsite for the summer camp season (3-5 weeks each summer, as the program grows). These are LONG days and can feel isolating for some. You’ll have at least 24 hours o each week to go home, but please consider if you’re excited to make the transition each year to living on-site.
    • We’re still figuring things out. Our programs are very new, and we are approaching youth development in a radical way. We try things, make mistakes, and work to get a little better every day.
