    Full Job Description: A Polygraph Examiner performs highly specialized technical work in conducting polygraph examinations for pre-employment applications, criminal investigations, internal and civil matters. A Polygraph Examiner performs highly specialized technical work in conducting polygraph examinations for pre-employment applications, criminal investigations, and internal matters. A Polygraph Examiner conducts pre-test interviews to determine factors affecting test conditions.

    Essential Job Tasks: (This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Internship

    Pay: Based Contract

    Expected Hours: 20 – 40 per week

    Duties: Formulating and discussing test questions with the subject being polygraphed; analyzing examination charts; noting unusual circumstances; submitting reports regarding polygraph results; advising investigators about legal limitations and individual rights pertaining to the polygraph; meeting with detectives members of different police departments and private investigators to develop court cases or discuss confessions; submitting reports to attorneys involving the polygraph; and appearing as an expert witness in court. A Police Polygraph Examiner maintains the computerized polygraph equipment. Polygraph Examiners are s responsible for performing related duties as required.

    Responsibilities:

    - Conduct pre-examination profound interviews

    - Interpret body language behaviors

    - Reviews applications, background questionnaires, and case reports.

    - Conducts pre-examination interviews.

    - Compiles and prepares the question format for polygraph examinations.

    - Conducts polygraph examinations efficiently and timely.

    - Conducts post-examination interrogation if necessary.

    - Evaluates completed examination graphs and prepares reports.

    - Research case law in reference to each respective examination.

    - Operates, maintains, and calibrate the polygraph equipment.

    - Participates in continuing education and training programs to maintain skills.

    - Provides courtroom testimony if required.

    - Performs other duties/tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

    - Maintains good attendance to perform assigned tasks as scheduled/assigned by the supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    - You must be a graduate of the Psychophysiological Detection of Deception Program and approved by the American Polygraph Association, and have completed the school prior to applying to this job.

    - Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:

    * Biology

    * Criminal Justice

    * Education

    * Forensic Psychology

    * Forensic Science

    * Psychology

    - At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale is preferred, but exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances.

    - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    - Analytic skills.

    - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a broad cross-section of society, sometimes under stressful conditions.

    - Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

    - Confidence to have your work scrutinized and the grace to accept feedback.

    - High levels of trustworthiness, tenacity, professional and personal integrity, and loyalty to the United States.

    - Ability to meet the minimum requirement, including U.S citizenship and a background investigation.

    - Be able to obtain POST certification - Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing Course.

    Desired Qualifications:

    - Professional experience or training/certification in interviewing, investigation.

    - Current or previously qualified polygraph examiner certification

    - Knowledge of polygraph examination techniques

    - Experience working as a polygraph examiner and conducting extensive interviews

    - Polygraph certifications from an American Polygraph Association (APA) accredited school

    - Be Associated with the following polygraph associations;

    - American Association of Police Polygraphist
