Disability Services Manager oversees an organization's disability related programs. Ensures compliance with all government regulations, including ADA and FMLA, and ensures that program objectives are in line with the overall goals of the organization. Being a Disability Services Manager seeks to minimize financial costs by facilitating return to work for disabled employees. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Disability Services Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Disability Services Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     What does an Emergency Cellphone Responder do?

    You would provide 1:1 support to adults with developmental disabilities in their home and throughout their community. You would be trained on all the support needs of a number of our clients, be available to jump in and work shifts with clients as needed during an on-call shift, and also provide support to staff over the phone. You may need to work to find coverage for a shift and make last minute arrangements for client support.

     

    What does your typical day on E-Cell look like?

    • Organizing coverage for open shifts with our clients
    • Responding to emergency calls from support staff
    • Discussing emergency supports with clients’ families as needed
    • Supporting staff with anything out of the ordinary!

     

    When you are working with clients, what does your day look like?

    • You will be providing emotional support and companionship
    • Get some exercise and walks around their neighborhood
    • Do some arts and craft projects
    • Connect with friends and loved ones virtually
    • Meal planning and cooking meals
    • Light cleaning around their homes
    • Personal/intimate care
    • Wheelchair transfers
    • Grocery shopping and other errands 
    • Modified, using delivery or pick up services.

     

    Who are we looking for?

    • Someone with a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Two years experience working in the field of human service preferred. 
    • Someone who has an understanding and commitment to the philosophy of inclusion, access and consumer-driven services. 
    • Someone who has the ability to work cooperatively with consumers, their support systems, employers and other agencies. 
    • Someone who has the ability to solve problems independently and as part of a team.
    • You must have possession of a valid California driver’s license, a driving record that meets agency standards, auto insurance and access to a vehicle. 
    • Someone who is willing to commit to a minimum of one year on the Ecell team.

     

    What's the schedule?

    You would be on call for a 24 hour period, 9am-9am weekly, shift days negotiable. We support clients throughout Alameda County. 

     

    Salary: $23.31 per hour. 

    Additionally, you will receive a $75 stipend for 24 hours of on-call on weekdays, and a $125 stipend for 24 hours of on-call on weekends. Four hours of training shifts paid at $23.31 per hour are guaranteed for each on-call shift. (That translates to a minimum of $150/day during the week, and a minimum of $200/day on the weekend!)
