JOB SUMMARY
Joining Marriott's dynamic IT Disaster Recovery (DR) team, this Analyst role is responsible for supporting the development of Marriott’s DR strategies, processes and governance. We're seeking a skilled professional with experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver DR program objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both on-premise and cloud infrastructure, as well as expertise in application-focused technologies such as Containers, APIs, and Messaging events. Additionally, we are looking for someone with a solid understanding of security and ransomware prevention strategies, along with proficiency in Python automation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
• 5 years’ experience in IT Disaster Recovery or related technical discipline
• Proven experience with on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong background in application-focused disaster recovery, with expertise in containers, messaging, and APIs.
• Familiarity with application servers such as Spring Boot, JBoss, and WebLogic, as well as web servers like Apache and NGINX.
• Proficiency in Python for automation, as well as experience with other scripting languages and automation tools.
• Familiarity with application frameworks such as Spring Boot, Django, or Flask.
• Knowledge of Open Telemetry for monitoring and tracing applications.
• Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, and decide and influence appropriate courses of action
Preferred:
• Certification in IT disaster recovery (e.g., CBCP, ITIL).
• Cloud Certification Preferred
• Experience with complex networking and infrastructure technologies, such as SD-WAN, CDN, Hypervisors, load balancers, Switches, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI).
• Experience with issue tracing, debugging, and logging tools and practices.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum software development practice

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
• Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive disaster recovery plans for our IT systems, encompassing on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that disaster recovery plans align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Design and implement automated disaster recovery processes using Python and other scripting languages to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and gap analyses to identify potential vulnerabilities in the disaster recovery plans.
• Coordinate and conduct disaster recovery drills, pre-drills, table tops, and workshops to test the effectiveness of the plans and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance during actual disaster recovery events, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in disaster recovery and contribute to the continuous improvement of our disaster recovery capabilities.
• Familiarity with the SNOW/CMDB, Fusion Framework, and other enterprise collaboration tools.
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPCs, CloudFront, IAM, and Route 53 would be an advantage.
• Travel - on an as-needed basis.
