We are currently seeking applications for a Liquor Department Manager based out of our Aberdeen, SD Grocery Store. This position is responsible for ensuring profitability and remarkable service and experiences for team members and customers in the Aberdeen Grocery Store. Responsibilities:

• Supervise team of retail sales workers
• Adjust daily schedule for shift personnel to ensure optimal efficiency
• Train and evaluate employees
• Ensure appropriate inventory levels
• Ensure high levels of customers satisfaction through excellent service
• Ensure proper execution and compliance with policies and procedures
• Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards
• Handle employee issues and coordinate improvement plans, and corrective actions as needed
• Be a shining example of Kessler's Core Values and Customer Commitment
• Knowledge and understanding of wine, spirits and malt beverages
• Understanding of planograms as related to presentation of goods

Competencies: 

• Financial Management – responsible for profitability, expense control, labor targets, buying and merchandising and inventory control.
• Category Management and Merchandising – follow plan-o-grams to maximize sales, maintain accurate retail pricing and signage, maintain overall fresh look to department, build and maintain rapport with vendors.
• Team Member Development – Interview, select, train, develop and counsel team members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover. Able to lead and motivate department and team.
• Demonstrates the Customer Commitment in how he/she approaches tasks, the work environment, co-workers, and, most importantly, when directing and/or motivating direct reports.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently to complete projects at a high-quality level with little to no direct supervision.

Requirements

• Previous experience in retail, wine & spirit sales or management, or other related fields
• Customer management skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to hear, speak, and understand English to respond promptly to pages for assistance, to answer telephones, and to be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers
• Proven ability to follow up on tasks
• Ability to take off hour calls and report to work as necessary outside normal scheduled working hours
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office software products
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Retail environment includes the use and handling of chemical substances and solutions, some of which could be potentially hazardous if label instructions are not adhered to or if mixed or combined improperly.
• The work environment includes occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds at a time.
• The work environment includes occasional working on wet and slippery surfaces.
• Office environment including laptop.
