OVERVIEW OF ROLE :

The primary function of the brokerage coordinator is to secure reliable third party capacity to cover the freight tendered to Forward Brokerage.

This position will be required to tender shipments to third party carriers and will network heavily with operations. An additional key accountability of this role will be working with sales to develop new customers as well as grow our carrier base by contracting new carriers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Secure third party capacity for all loads originating in the assigned market
• Monitor daily progress of our third party carriers. Obtain timely updates from the carriers to ensure we have loads in the proper status.
• Obtain billing information from third party capacity to ensure we properly bill our customers timely and properly.
• Monitor and update carrier third party insurance requirements, contract execution, and carrier profile execution.
• Responsible for maintaining and developing a group of third party carriers. Will need to understand their freight need,desired flows as well as managing the service they supply to Ward Transport and Logistics Corporation.
• Post loads in utilizing various posting tools and outside posting companies as necessary.
• Perform "safer system" checks on all carriers to ensure carrier permits all reflect "satisfactory" ratings.
• Report to management daily on all outside carriers when exceptions occur.
• Assist customers by coordinating problem resolution between customers and carriers.
• Handle expedited shipments in accordance with Ward’s standard operating procedures.
• Tender to Ward Partner Carriers weekly rate confirmation sheets in a timely manner.
• Fully support all technologies and processes, introduced by Ward, that are intended to improve efficiencies and / or the customer experience.

Support would include adherence to training programs, guidelines and processes associated with these systems.

• Current experience in a freight brokerage company or a third party logistics company.
• Previous experience in transportation or trucking industries desired but not mandatory.
• Previous sales experience desired but not mandatory.
• Sound judgment, initiative and professional communication skills must be exhibited at all times when dealing with others to include third party carriers and customers.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload.
• Strong negotiation skills required.
• Possess good problem analysis skills and sound financial judgment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain motivation and energy for cold calling and prospecting carriers.
• Strong work ethic, fast learner.
• Self-starter and motivated to achieve.
• Great phone presence and effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Comfortable with computer and multiple applications.
• Minimal overnight travel required when needed.
