Distance Learning and Education Director manages administrative functions of the distance learning program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Distance Learning and Education Director leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Distance Learning and Education Director requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Distance Learning and Education Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Provide the Distance Learning (DL) instructor paraprofessional support by facilitating delivery of materials to and from the students and monitoring student behavior while at the sending site; at the receiving site, teacher assistant acts as a teacher surrogate by facilitating lesson plans, monitoring student behavior, and completing administrative paperwork (i.e., attendance, excessive absence forms, discipline referrals, textbook inventory, monthly reports).
General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in classroom teaching; ability to maintain confidential files and information to compile reports; ability to deal effectively with students and teachers; ability to use classroom and Distance Learning instructional equipment; ability to operate standard office, word and data processing equipment; basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite word processing, data base, and spreadsheet documents, email, and web pages; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and associates.
Required: High School Diploma or GED. Experience working with high school or middle school students.

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional stooping and kneeling. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently. Entry hourly rate: $17.81-$25.99
Compensation will be based on job-related creditable years of full-time, verified work experience. The entry-level rate will be awarded at the time of hire. Upon the return of employment verification forms from the candidate's current and previous employers, the rate will be adjusted if creditable full-time experience is confirmed.
