Distribution Manager manages and deploys the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. Communicates and monitors production measurement metrics and sets performance targets at the team and individual level for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines. Being a Distribution Manager utilizes data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies. Troubleshoots and resolves escalated operational issues. Additionally, Distribution Manager ensures all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, or other governmental regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. This position will complete electronic forms regarding accidents and driver issues. They will also take calls from customers/clients regarding accidents and issues. This is an office-based position- they will be on the phone the majority of the day. They will receive calls from drivers and fill out an intake form with all the details- the context of the accident, what parts of the truck are damaged, the driver's information and location, etc. They will need to be thorough and comfortable asking a lot of follow questions. This information will then be inputted into 2 other systems (Claims, Driver Evaluation System).
Length is currently 3-4 months. Filling in for someone on leave, end date to be determined but could be extended.
Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Systems such as Excel, Outlook, SharePoint etc. Knowledge of SAP would be helpful.
Experience: 1-2 years of office experience (using a computer, being on the phone, filling out forms electronically, etc.). Experience in customer service is preferred. Candidates should have some knowledge of trucking/logistics in order to communicate with drivers about their issues (overweight, citations, etc.).
Difficulty of Duties: Work activities are variable and require judgment multi-tasking and decision-making skills to complete tasks such as carrier disposition maintaining worklist and other duties as assigned.
Curiosity: Able and interested in asking lots of follow up questions when speaking to drivers. Must be able to get all necessary details from the driver on this call and will sometimes require they think on their feet and ask logical, "next step" type questions.
Communicative: Must be able to speak with drivers in all situations, as well as customers. Must be able to ask the necessary questions and record the answers. Must be able to communicate all the information to their team/manager.
Patient: Must be able to deal with customers as well as drivers, sometimes in less than ideal circumstances. Should be patient and able to stay focused.
Interested in learning/open minded: They will be taught exactly what they need to do, so candidates should be open to training and able to apply the learned information.
Most importantly, candidates must be able and willing to learn on the job and have the right attitude.
