OPERATIONS MANAGER

Hood Distribution is looking for an Operations Manager for their Memphis, TN location. Hood Distribution is a wholesale distributor of specialty wood products supplying retail lumber dealers, cabinet shops, millwork facilities, and industrial accounts. This position reports to the Branch Manager and is directly responsible for the supervision of the warehouse staff and drivers.

The successful candidate should have experience in warehouse operations, distribution, logistics, etc. in wood products or related field. Specific knowledge of safe fleet and warehouse operations are essential. Forklift operator/trainer certification is preferred but not required.

Requirements

Candidate will manage overall warehouse operations. Functions would include inventory management (purchasing, receiving, cycle counting), order processing, handling millwork, transfers, and handling inbound and outbound freight. Additional duties would include scheduling of drivers and warehouse staff. Candidate will also manage routine maintenance and necessary repairs on warehouse equipment, trucks, oversee DOT compliance, etc. Candidate would facilitate monthly safety meetings.

Candidate would be the point of contact in communicating intercompany inventory transfers and material processing. Also, coverage for Inside Sales occasionally.

Candidate would provide supervisory guidance, coaching and training to center employees. They would assure that all employees receive proper training and maintain their skills in equipment operation. Responsible for drivers being properly licensed, trained, and are observing safe driving and loading/unloading practices.

Hardwood lumber experience is a plus and being computer literate is a requirement
