Corporate Document Control Engineer

  • The primary responsibility of the Document Control Engineer is the correct and accurate storage, retrieval, and communication of all engineering technical records, drawings, and documentation within the Engineering Document Management System.  The focus of the role is to provide support to the Capital Projects Teams by issuing and receiving all documentation between Engineering and Capital Project Team to Third Party engineering consultants, contractors, and vendors.

    Here’s What You’ll Do:

    • The Document Control Engineer will assist with the implementation and training of a new Engineering Document Management System.
    • The Document Control Engineer will be responsible for the accurate storage and retrieval of all Engineering documents within a new EDMS.
    • Assist in execution of Major Capital projects as dedicate resource for engineering document control
    • Maintaining effective relationships with Vendors, OEMS, Consultants & Contractors on capital projects by managing licenses, credentials, and visibility within West Fraser Web Client portal to the EDMS.
    • Coordinate with Project Engineers, Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts to organize, store and distribute Engineering Documents
    • Provide user training for checking in, checking out, reviewing, approving, and redlining engineering documents
    • Tracking submittals, transmittals, RFI’s, change orders and other.
    • Establishing & Customizing workflows
    • Managing EDMS to prevent document duplication
    • Assigning metadata to library cards to ease in document retrieval
    • Linking and Relationships forming between documents
    • Developing strategies that support document control
    • Assist in the development of internal naming convention
    • Assist in receiving and distributing project plans, drawings, BOMs, Contracts, manuals, specifications, etc.
    • Ability to participate in internal and external project review meetings
    • Act as a point of contact to internal and external EDMS users
    • Coordinate with IT, OT, and West Fraser Cyber Security to ensure requirements are maintained
    • Handle a wide range of verbal, written and presentation communications
    • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

     

    Here’s What You’ll Need:

    • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
    • Preference given to applicants with experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial experience
    • Excellent skills in all forms of communication
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple long-term & short-term tasks simultaneously
    • Strong computer skills with experience in MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Adept by Synergis, or similar Engineering Document Control Systems
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
