GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Ensure all accounting procedures and record keeping are in compliance with business practice and General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Direct and coordinate accounting activities to include accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets and retail, and miscellaneous inventories.

Provide oversight and direction of all general accounting functions, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Supervise the accounting staff, develop goals and establish priorities.

Establish and maintain an effective system of internal controls for accounting functions.

Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.

Ensure the agency complies with all government, state and other funding sources requirements including reporting.

Oversee the completion and management of financial reports, audits with government agencies and other outside funding sources.

Ensure that all agency bank account reconciliations are complete monthly.

Provide financial reports and information, training and assistance to management throughout the organization.

Maintain accounting systems and records in accordance with department and management needs and retention standards.

Participate in crossover training responsible as backup to all accounting staff daily duties.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor degree in accounting/business administration, strong skills in accounting principles and procedures.
2. Work experience in business management/accounting required. Supervisory experience helpful.
3. Strong verbal, written and organization skills.
4. A well developed acumen for business.
5. Must have a valid drivers license issued by the State of Nebraska and meet insurance requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to communicate in spoken conversation and have normal hearing for conversation and telephone use.
2. Ability to be independently mobile on all surfaces, to move safely about the work area.
3. Visual acuity, depth perception and field of vision within normal range.
4. Have the physical stamina to work at least eight (8) hours per day and be able to travel to sites, conferences, etc., via automobile, airplane, etc.
