Drafting Supervisor supervises a team within an organization's computer-aided design (CAD) department. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of drafters and other employees working on design projects. Being a Drafting Supervisor ensures deadlines, goals, and production standards for the department are met. Analyzes data and reviews drawings/plans to ensure quality of work and project feasibility. Additionally, Drafting Supervisor reviews project results and makes recommendations for improvement. Provides CAD technical support and develops solutions. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Drafting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Drafting Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     The intern candidate will be assigned to a project to improve existing Plant Drawings.  This includes adding an electrical layer & number system along with building columns.  Also, verify current business unit layouts. This candidate would also work with the engineering team to develop 3C drawings of existing tooling used on the production floor.


    Major Tasks:
    • Improve Plant Layout Drawings for existing buildings.  This includes adding an electrical layer & number system along with building columns.  Also, verify current business unit layouts using AutoCAD.
    • This intern would also work with the Manufacturing engineering team to develop 3D drawings of existing tooling used on the production floor using Solid Works.

    This internship will work 40 hours per week during the summer 2024.

    All Interns will present a PowerPoint presentation on what they have learned through their summer internship program.  All presentations will be given in a group setting to Management, Directors, Co-Workers, General Manager and fellow interns in August. 

    Working with a team of 20 engineers, our Engineering Interns work on real life manufacturing projects that have a financial impact for the company.  Projects are focused in areas such as process improvement and product development.  The Intern coordinates and assists with planning, organization, integration, reporting and completion of the project within the area of assigned responsibility. 
    Our internships apply the mechanical knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.  Exposing candidates to engineering processes and advanced technology.   The hands-on approach allows our Interns the ability to see the outcome of their work, and adjust their work as needed to be able to produce the desired outcomes.
