Job Description:
The Draftsman is responsible for producing accurate and detailed architectural and engineering drawings to support construction projects. Working closely with architects, engineers, and project managers, the Drafter translates design concepts into precise drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create construction documents from concept design to full working drawings including under slab plumbing, foundation plans, floor plans, framing plans, sections, electrical plans, along with sales and marketing plans.
- Collaborate with other design team members to ensure designs meet specifications.
- Responsible for document maintenance and revision for ongoing plan updates and changes with new product integration.
- Conduct quality checks on drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements, standards, and specifications.
- Maintain organized records of all drawings, revisions, and related documentation, ensuring version control and accessibility for reference and future use.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing drawings, ensuring precision in measurements, annotations, and graphic representations.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, understanding construction terminology, and applying principles of geometry, trigonometry, and drafting standards.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements, design iterations, and client preferences, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and implementing solutions as needed.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, or similar drafting software along with Excel (or other spreadsheet software)
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in drafting in a related field (residential design, architecture, engineering, or similar field)
- Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, or similar drafting software along with Excel (or other spreadsheet software)
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in architectural drafting, engineering technology, or a related field
- Experience with Sketchup and Revit preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Formal education in design or drafting is preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
