Drilling Operations Director directs and oversees the drilling, production, and engineering operations for an organization. Oversees all aspects of planning and executing drilling projects, developing oil and gas fields, and analyzing reserves. Being a Drilling Operations Director is responsible for directing revisions or enhancements to troubleshoot and solve drilling problems. May coordinate drilling contractors and production managers/superintendents. Additionally, Drilling Operations Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Drilling Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     Summary:

    Reporting directly to the EVP/GM, this role has significant visibility and is key to the strategic plan for increased revenue and profit.

    Utilizing 80/20 Methodology and increased labor productivity through level loading and material flow from machining through final assembly, this position will execute the critical strategy of increased output on production. With demonstrated results, this role can grow into the VP of Operations within one year of start date.

    The ideal candidate will have successfully converted demand production scheduling to level loaded Kanban material flow with proven ability to engage direct and indirect labor in achieving the goals. The successful candidate will come from a vertically integrated manufacturing environment driven by GEMBA and KPIs at the point of impact.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (first year)

    • Drive Kanban’s throughout the manufacturing process with focus on the 20% of SKUs that drive 80% of the company’s revenue.
    • Direct responsibility for the development and execution of the visual process and reducing the need for MRP driven purchasing and work order management.
    • Production scheduling will report into this position with KPI’s developed to ensure the strategy of efficient and increased output are achieved on 2 critical values streams.
    • Support and help drive a culture of bottoms up ownership and engagement. Utilizing daily and hourly production boards, GEMBA walks and KPI’s at the point of impact, developing future leaders at all levels of the organization
    • Other duties as assigned

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (after first year with desired results)

    • Oversee all operational functions. Responsible for 3 sites (2 – Temple, 1 – Waco). Production scheduling, all manufacturing (4 Value Streams), manufacturing engineering and maintenance.
    • Support and help drive a culture of bottoms up ownership and engagement. Utilizing daily and hourly production boards, GEMBA walks and KPI’s at the point of impact, developing future leaders at all levels of the organization
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education/Training/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College with 10 or more years work experience
    • Demonstrated understanding and desired results in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment utilizing an operating model based on KPIs; root cause identification and countermeasures providing accountability and ownership at the point of impact.
    • Six Sigma formalized training with certification
    • Deep understanding and experience of visual Kanban’s, supermarkets, EOQ and MOQ driving less dependency on MRP/Forecast driven demand.
    • Strong written, listening and verbal communication skills
    • History of motivating and educating the workforce to cope with changes and initiate changes
    • Willingness to work in the plant and perform hands-on training, as needed
    • Ability to function independently, exercise good judgement and provide strategic and operational leadership
    • Ability to gain cross functional support to achieve required outcomes by negotiating win-win solutions
    • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
    • Strong project management, time management and multi-tasking skills
    • Ability to apply college level mathematical concepts relative to this position

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    First year – 1 master scheduler, 2 production planners, 1 data analyst (5 employees)

    Second year – All MFG functions at 3 sites; Temple – 2, Waco – 1 ( 300 employees)
