- Assess new clients and gather information to diagnose substance use disorders.
- Facilitate and document outpatient group therapy sessions
Requirements for Addictions Counselor- Knowledge of diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders in line with DSM-5 and ASAM PPC-II, therapeutic intervention techniques, and substance abuse treatment modalities.
- Possess clinical skill set to recognize signs of patient impairment and conduct substance use detection screenings.
- Possess clinical skill set to accurately document information and complete written reports, statistics, and clinical records in a timely fashion.
Education and Experience: (List of minimum required educational degrees, licenses, registrations.)Candidates must possess current certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CAC-AD or LCADC) from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.- Licensed counselors and social workers with significant addiction experience will be considered.
