Title: Recovery Coach
Reports to: Recovery Coach Supervisor
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Recovery Coach provides advocacy and support to individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) who are receiving services through Heartland Regional Alcohol and Drug Assessment Center (HRADAC). The primary area of support is focused on recovery from addiction but will also support stabilization in other areas such as physical health, mental health, social, recreational and life skills coaching.
The Recovery Coach role is designed to be a supplement to treatment services, case management and/or care coordination services. It is an integral part to the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care model of community based services. The primary purpose is to help bridge the gap between professional treatment and sustainable recovery and to help individuals begin, maintain, and improve the quality of individual and family recovery.
The Recovery Coach position is designed to connect with the client who is in early recovery or struggling to establish early recovery. A course in mentor training focused on addictions, in addition to recovery experience, helps establish a peer relationship.
The Recovery Coach will be a part of the HRADAC Care Coordination clinical team with the responsibility to help individuals gain access to needed resources, services, or supports that help them achieve and maintain recovery from their substance abuse disorder.
Although part of an HRADAC Clinical team, the Recovery Coach’s role is a non-clinical one. This position will not diagnosis, provide counseling or referral, or focus on clinical issues, or trauma. The Recovery Coach will provide direct support to recovery solutions identified in the Strength Based Assessment tool.
Coverage area will include Leavenworth and Wyandotte County.
