Job description

ARC Manor Addiction Recovery Center, an independent, private non-profit drug and alcohol facility, is seeking a part-time or full-time counselor. The facility is headquartered in Kittanning, Armstrong County as well as an office in Leechburg. Programs offered at the facility include residential treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient programs. The counselor position reports directly to the Clinical Director. Rotating weekend coverage (approximately 4 hours) has an extra $100 per day incentive pay.

Examples of Work:

• Provide all required clinical documentation, including psychosocial summaries, individual and group notes, treatment plans, treatment plan updates, referral notes, aftercare plans and discharge summaries, etc.
• Develop meaningful, comprehensive and individualized treatment plans using client input and monitor progress and measure results.
• Conduct psychosocial interviews with clients and perform utilization review with insurance carriers/funding sources.
• Consult with nurse navigator to coordinate mental health and physical health needs.
• Facilitate group therapy, didactic groups and conducts individual and family counseling/therapy sessions.
• Present summaries of cases at staff meetings and elicit input from other counselors, supervisors, and medical professionals.
• Handle client case management needs including facilitating referrals to half-way houses and other continued treatment options.
• Provide on-call crises intervention and counseling when needed.

Required Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of drug and alcohol abuse practices, subculture and treatment methods.
• Knowledge of treatment facilities and human services agencies that provide drug and alcohol services.
• Knowledge of crises intervention methods; individual, family, group and marital counseling techniques, Motivational Interviewing techniques as well as other theories of drug and alcohol treatment.
• Excellent organizational skills including the ability to plan and organize.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a high stress environment.
• Must abide by professional ethical standards.

Minimum Experience and Training:

Candidate must meet Commonwealth of PA Department of Health, Division of Drug and Alcohol Licensure staffing qualifications for position of Counselor.

Preferred - Master’s Degree with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work or other human services related field which includes a practicum in a health or human services agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.

Minimum - Bachelor’s Degree with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work or other human services related field.

CADC PA Certification Board preferred.
