Drywall Installer plans, installs, and repairs drywalls to cover walls, ceilings, soffits, shafts, and movable partitions in residential and commercial areas. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Drywall Installer may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Drywall Installer relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.     This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

    This position is not eligible for a telecommuting schedule. 

    Essential Functions

    • Assist with fabrication of various types of cable assemblies, including but limited to; coax, waveguide, multi-conductor/-paired cables, network cables and wave guide.
    • Perform electronic and electrical work, as well as mechanical drawing requests from Shop Work Orders.
    • Assist with the installation of under-floor/over-head cable trays, conduit, and fiber innerduct
    • Install various range equipment including antennas, equipment bays, relay racks and consoles. 
    • Assist with AC/DC power installations/modifications and removals.
    • Climb or work from towers, platforms, ladders, scissor lifts, 45’/80’ man-lifts, 170’ Condor man-lift.
    • Complete assigned training in a timely manner to establish a level of proficiency and qualification essential for mission support.
    • Adhere to established policies and procedures pertaining to job site safety, security, and timekeeping.
    • Perform other duties/cross utilization as required.

     Required Skills

    • Good comprehension of equipment manuals, product specification sheets, blueprints, drawings, and engineering sketches.
    • Good oral and written communication skills. 

    Required Experience

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of two years of electronic equipment fabrication/assembly, cable fabrication, equipment installation, and wiring termination/harnessing experience.
    • Proficient with various connector crimpers, die inserts, and related stripping tools.
    • Experience in solder techniques and application related to printed circuit boards, cable connectors, coax connectors and chassis assemblies.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to use test equipment, hand/power tools, forklifts, and portable man-lifts.
    • Able to free climb or work from high-reach equipment at heights in excess of 150’, able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.; able to sustain prolonged periods of standing, kneeling and or repeated stooping.
    • Knowledge with Environmental and OSHA Standards preferred.[SB1] 
    • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
    • Willing to travel occasionally in support of work at off base locations. 
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship 
    • Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Unit.
    • Current U.S. driver’s license.
    • Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    The hourly rate for this role is determined by a Collective Bargaining Unit and ranges from $29.56 - $36.92.  RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills, and knowledge.
