Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Web Content Assistant will support the functioning of Purdue’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture’s website, reviewing, producing, and revising updates to ensure the site is up to date and reflects website best practices and Purdue University’s brand standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with Cascade, Wordpress, or other CMS.
• Strong writing and editing skills, including grammar, spelling and ability to exercise editorial judgement.
• A willingness to learn new skills.
• Detail oriented—able to work independently and balance multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with HTML, web best practices, and web accessibility.
• Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and/or Adobe Photoshop a plus.

Job Responsibilities & Skill Development:

• Contacting faculty, staff, and teams in the department for any updates needed on their webpages.
• Strong writing and editing skills, including grammar, spelling and ability to exercise editorial judgement when creating/updating web content.
• Come up with creative and unique ways to display web content within the confines of Cascade and Purdue’s Branding Requirements.
• Ability to adapt to the best way of contacting faculty/staff/teams about website updates that will work best with them.
• Will work collaboratively with faculty/staff/teams and the Program Assistant.
• Will work mostly independently once established.
