    Duty Schedule:

    Monday-Friday; some weekend hours to accommodate student program requirements, boot camp events and/or activities for special program in-services

    Summary/Objective of Position:

    A full-time College faculty is responsible for instruction, assessment, advising, committee work, and service to the College. Other duties may include grant management, research, or specific academic endeavors. A College faculty is critical in creating, maintaining, assessing, and reflecting upon a learning environment where academic discipline is integrated with the College Mission to support student learning and the Diné Education Philosophy.

    The successful applicant must have the background and experience to teach introductory Education courses for majors and non-majors, and lower/upper division Diné studies courses in the areas of their expertise. The applicant should have an ability and interest to develop or participate in a student-focused undergraduate research program.


    Description of Essential Functions of the Position

    -Instruction and curriculum. Times, days, and site(s) for teaching of courses vary and mode of delivery will include distance education (Blackboard, MediaShare IQ, Zoom, or ITV). Successful applicant must be certified for on-line teaching or willing to be certified as quickly as possible upon hire. As a multi-site college, faculty may be required to teach at centers.

    -Assessment of courses and programs. Faculty will provide student learning assessment with collected artifacts using rubrics for each course. The Academic Program Review reporting is done each semester to maintain student learning outcome reporting.

    -Academic advising and mentoring. Faculty will maintain office hours in accordance with terms and conditions of faculty employment contractual obligations.

    -Work with other faculty, staff, and the Dean to network with other institutions to articulate the coursework, and to design a collaborative framework with other schools of education, implement and enhance the program at the College towards ultimate sustainability. The faculty shall work closely with Academic Advisors to ensure that students are successfully learning and to ensure that Early Alert techniques are used and reported accordingly and appropriately.

    -Service on committees. Faculty are expected to meet contractual workload and to make-up workload expectations including services on Standing Committees. This will include working on such workload hours with the School Dean.

    -Service to the College through student organization, advising service learning, and disappearing task force, etc. Prepares documents, reports and routine correspondences in a timely manner, collects student data and provides information accordingly, promotes and uses data-driven decision making.

    -Other assignments such as grant management, research, or specific academic endeavors. Grant oversight may include research projects and outreach services to local schools involving student teachers.

    -Perform additional duties as assigned. Faculty may be given additional duties to maintain to ensure that student support services are maintained. Other activities may include TCUP activities regarding annual events such as AIHEC student activities scholarly competitions.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience


    Minimum:

    - Master Degree in Education or similar field of study; Minimum: for teaching of 100-200 level courses. Minimum of a master degree in the respective discipline with minimum coursework of 18 credit hours of graduate credit in the discipline to be taught.
    - For teaching of 300-400 level courses: Minimum of a master degree, doctorate degree preferred in the respective discipline.

    Preferred:

    Ed.D or Ph.D, Ability to teach mathematics methods courses at elementary and high school levels

    Knowledge:

    Problem solving and decision making skills. Good planning and organizational skills.

    Skills:

    - Knowledgeable about FERPA policies to demonstrate student confidentiality.
    - Knowledgeable in College academic policies and procedures in assisting students.
    - Demonstrates understanding of the College mission and role of the tribal college.

    Abilities:

    -Effective communication in written, spoken and nonverbal communication skills.

    Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

    - Use of college vehicle, which requires updated Navajo Nation Public Highway Safety certificate.
    - A faculty is to have high degree of proficiency in computer software use to support the administration of higher education. Software use include but is not limited to, general office functions such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet services. In addition, a faculty is expected to utilize academic-specific programs for course delivery (face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous).

    Other Requirement(s):

    - Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
    - Use of college vehicle, which requires updated Defensive Driving certificate.
