Education Director provides supervision and direction of nursing education programs. Develops and implements course content and curriculums to train and update skills and knowledge of in-service nurses. Being a Education Director remains current and knowledgeable regarding federal and state regulations. Provides oversight and day-to-day guidance to staff. Additionally, Education Director typically requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to senior management. The Education Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Director of Environmental Education Outreach leads all environmental education programs and associated staff at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College. Related PreK-12, family, and adult programs occur at Merry Lea and in communities throughout northeast Indiana. Specific responsibilities include oversight of program and curriculum development and evaluation, program delivery, modeling PreK-12 teaching to staff, students, and volunteers, leading professional development efforts, overseeing the teaching practicum experience for Goshen College’s Master of Arts in Environmental Education program, and seeking to advance environmental education efforts throughout the northeast Indiana region. This position serves as a senior Merry Lea staff member and works closely with the Executive Director to further Merry Lea’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
This is a full-time salary exempt position (1.0 FTE) with an annual salary of $49,800.
Supervision of the Environmental Education Outreach staff, mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students and volunteers.
The location of this position is at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center, which is 28 miles southeast of Goshen. Merry Lea consists of 1,189 acres of diverse ecosystems and is managed as a preserve. There are multiple program sites and facilities including classroom and office space.
Inside environmental conditions for a portion of the time, but does include significant work outside where there may be exposure to inclement weather, exposure to pollen and spores, venomous snakes, ticks, biting insects and other elements that are a part of an intentionally natural environment.
