LEARN's Student Support Services department is seeking a
Special Education/Systems Manager at their Ocean Avenue LEARNing Academy location in New London. The Special Education/Systems Manager assumes responsibility for a variety of clerical, technical and support work involving specific routines, broadly defined policies and procedures, and organizational tasks as assigned. The Special Education/Systems Manager assists in the overall functions of the school and student support services department in order to plan, develop, and implement a quality special education program and school/department logistics and systems.
Specific Responsibilities
Manage the scheduling of special education/PPT, 504, SRBI, CST meetings and the associated paperwork, electronic records, timelines, and correspondence, maintaining clerical excellence.
Develop and maintain knowledge of special education and school/department systems/logistics.
Act as the point of contact for case managers, special educators, and related service providers with regards to record keeping and reports.
Assure timelines of special education reporting.
Ability to handle confidential information with complete security.
Develop and maintain organizational and procedural systems to ensure safe and effective services, logistics, and transportation.
Maintain accurate records and data for students consistent with the requirements of the Custodian of Records.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Maintain inventory of books, supplies, equipment, and capital items.
Development of school/department schedules, brochures, and announcements.
Support school/department efforts in developing capacity and providing services.
Demonstrate ability to use a variety of technologies in regarding program administration, systems/logistics, teaching, and learning.
Work easily with people and collaborates well with others.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal/Director.
Experience and Training
General understanding and knowledge of LEARN policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to independently handle assignments and take initiative
Ability to balance work responsibilities to accommodate changing needs and priorities
Effective oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of computers and software applications including PowerSchool, IEP Direct, databases
Demonstrated sound professional, ethical behavior
Qualifications: Associate Degree and/or related experience, ability to lift 35 lbs, ability to travel to school districts or sites of programs, strong problem-solving skills.
