Under the general supervision of the Complex Area Superintendent of the Nanakuli-Waianae Complex Area, the Complex School Renewal Specialist II :
Directs and supervises activities of district-based resource personnel to provide instructional services to CA schools.
Serves as a liaison between the State, schools inter and intra-CA and the community in several subject and program areas.
Summarizes, analyzes, and interprets all available data of the CA and schools for curriculum / instructional improvement.
Presents and clarifies state / CA programs to schools to effect implementation and adaptation of educational programs.
Administers, supervises, and coordinates State / CA programs of instruction. The CSRS has direct responsibility in major curriculum areas such as curriculum development, K-12 curriculum coordination and implementation;
and other academic focus areas and programs, as directed by the CAS. Plans, directs, coordinates, and / or conducts staff development activities and identifies their implications for curriculum instruction, assessment, and professional development.
Works with resource teachers to develop operational procedures and instructional strategies to meet program goals.
Provides assistance to schools in Hawaii State goals, FPOs, and content area goals and objectives as necessary and appropriate.
Researches, identifies, and examines current instructional strategies and implications for school improvement. Assists schools in the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of instructional practices and strategies.
Assists schools by conducting research, informational meetings, and training sessions.
Identifies emerging education needs of CA's students and communities to recommend changes in curricular needs. Provides research on instructional practices and models for curriculum improvement.
Provides program coordination for CA elementary schools. Administers and monitors state education policies, regulations and program standards within the CA.
Advises CA and State personnel, business, facilities, special education, compensatory education, and library services regarding curricular implications and needs.
Studies and evaluates multi-media instructional materials relevant to specific program areas and advises schools regarding appropriate selections.
Develops proposals for special projects as needed. Represents the CA at various meetings, activities, ceremonies, task forces, etc.
Provides information, interpretation, and consultation on programs to parents, community and professional groups, and general agencies.
Demonstrates use of materials and / or strategies for instruction. Develops and plans the budget for programs administered by the CA.
Articulate with other curriculum area specialists to bring about consistent, coordinated efforts toward common curriculum goals.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in education with specialization in a subject field appropriate to the areas of assignment.

Experience : Six (6) years of responsible work experience in education, of which four (4) years shall have been in teaching, and two (2) years in curriculum or program planning, as appropriate.
Desired Experience : Experience in data analysis coaching for school leaders and teachers, consisting in discussion facilitation on data analysis, building team capacity, and providing professional development on using data to inform instructional strategies.
Data accessibility; experience in translating complex data into clear and actionable information for stakeholders.

SALARY RANGE : EOSR-7, $107,345 to $151,953.
Department of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations.
WORK YEAR AND BENEFITS : This appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations.
