    Position Summary


    The Consumer Education Specialist (Communication Specialist Senior) position will serve as the primary web manager for the agency, translating complex material on utilities, broadband and more into easy-to-understand information for utilities, citizens, and agency staff. The incumbent will exercise a high degree of independence in keeping staff, the public, and utilities well-informed on agency activities, initiatives, and information through a consistent and accurate web presence. The position will develop long-term strategies for incorporating new interactive and digital media tools into agency communications and establish best practices and consistent messaging guidelines.

    Salary Information


    This position is in schedule-range (07-040) with an annual salary of $43,680-$69,388, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, Wisconsin residency is not required. However, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may at times need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

    Qualifications


    A qualified applicant will have experience, training or education in all the following activities:

    • Writing and editing technical communications for a public audience
    • Preparing presentations and graphics to enhance public outreach
    • Planning and implementing marketing plans and/or events

    In addition to the acceptable response, a well qualified applicant will have experience, training or education in at least one of the following areas:

    • Managing a communications program on behalf of an organization
    • Managing content in Microsoft SharePoint or other content management system
    • Planning, implementing and evaluating multi-media strategies for establishing communication efforts or outreach activities for an organization
    • Writing and editing in HTML or Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
