    Position:  Art Program Leader – Museum Education

    Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services – Museum of Art and History 

    Salary: Range: $17.95-20.78/hour

    Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

     

    Job Summary:

    Under the general supervision, the Arts Program Leader will assist in a variety of tasks associated with the organization and implementation of education programs and services at the City of Lancaster’s Museum of Art and History, MOAH: CEDAR, Western Hotel Museum, and the Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None

     

    Example of Duties & Responsibilities:

    Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Assists with the preparation, organization, and facilitation of the museum’s education programs including, but not limited to, Young Artist Workshops, Arts for Youth Tours, Discover Trunks, and Sensory Friendly Programs.
    • Guides regular exhibition tours and hosts specialized workshops.
    • Organizes and staff community outreach events taking place across Los Angeles County and beyond.
    • Writes educational materials, including but not limited to, tour scripts, project proposals, educational resources, and website text.
    • Works with community stakeholders, such as teachers, school groups, or other community leaders to deliver education programs.
    • Set up and tear down of special events.
    • Perform related duties as required.

    • Must be able to work approximately 18 hours a week, which includes weekends and some evenings.
    • Must be well organized, highly motivated, and possess good writing, typing, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of or an interest in, and appreciation of, the visual arts and history is preferred.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate a variety of duties related to assigned projects.
    • Ability to assist in organizing and implementing cultural activities.
    • Ability to perform clerical functions; observe safety principles and work in a safe manner.

     

    Education and Experience:

    • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
    • Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable.
    • Spanish language fluency is desirable.
