Rules & Regulations - Dynamic Interdisciplinary Team
LifeScape Specialty School is seeking a person fascinated with the rules and regulation related to the delivery of special education services for students with complex needs.
We currently have an opening for an Education Program Specialist where you will work closely with the Special Education Director to ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of components of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) within our specialty school. You will have an oppportnunity to work directly within the interdisciplinary team to assist and guide teams through the special education process.
This position allows you to use your leadership and administrative skills in the implementation of all components of IDEA, statewide assessment, curriculum implementation, conflict resolution, completion of student evaluations, teacher evaluations, reviewing documentation for compliance, and team building.

Here are some of the unique job duties that are a part of this position:
Serves as teacher of record, assist to provide expertise, direction, guidance as well as problem-solving assistance for education staff who provide services within the IFSP, IEP, and/or Educational Services and oversee required federal, state and district assessment

Master’s degree in special education required, endorsements in special education preferred. Coursework in Special Education/Education Administration required. South Dakota teacher certificate required. K-12 Special Education Endorsement required, or in pursuit of. Minimum of five years successful teaching experience in a special education classroom and successful leadership experience preferred. Prior experience working with students with significant cognitive disabilities, complex medical issues, physical disabilities, and challenging behaviors preferred.
