Education Specialist - Museum jobs in Wilmington, NC

The Wilmington Railroad Museum is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated, high-energy team member with strong communication and service skills to join the Museum Gift Shop and Ticket Office.

Responsibilities:

• Operate the cash register
• Make cash, check, and credit card sales
• Assist customers with information
• Excellence in customer service
• Take special orders and route mailing requests to manager
• Update point-of-sale inventory
• Restock, assist in merchandising and display, and cleaning and straightening of shelves
• Accurately close out, count money, make sales reports, and deposits at end of day
• Light housekeeping of the gift shop and restrooms
• Acts as supervisor when manager is unavailable

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Must have cash handling and retail experience.
• Good communications and interpersonal skills
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
• Ability to perform light lifting, climb ladder and physically able to stand for long periods

Education and Experience:

• Some college
• One or more years’ experience in sales and customer service
• Interest in history desirable

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour

• Every weekend
• Monday to Friday
