Education Specialist - Museum conducts research activities concerned with educational programs and services in a museum. Creates and distributes educational materials and publications for museum visitors and may be responsible for conducting staff training sessions. Being an Education Specialist - Museum may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Education Specialist - Museum occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Museum Admissions and Gift Shop Attendant

  • The Wilmington Railroad Museum is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated, high-energy team member with strong communication and service skills to join the Museum Gift Shop and Ticket Office.

    Responsibilities:

    • Operate the cash register
    • Make cash, check, and credit card sales
    • Assist customers with information
    • Excellence in customer service
    • Take special orders and route mailing requests to manager
    • Update point-of-sale inventory
    • Restock, assist in merchandising and display, and cleaning and straightening of shelves
    • Accurately close out, count money, make sales reports, and deposits at end of day
    • Light housekeeping of the gift shop and restrooms
    • Acts as supervisor when manager is unavailable

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Must have cash handling and retail experience.
    • Good communications and interpersonal skills
    • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Ability to perform light lifting, climb ladder and physically able to stand for long periods

    Education and Experience:

    • Some college
    • One or more years’ experience in sales and customer service
    • Interest in history desirable
