      Education Specialist (Certified) – Full Time - CREC Resource Group
      Special Education

      Position Purpose
      Under the direct supervision of a Senior Education Specialist and the Managing Director of Professional Learning, the Certified Education Specialist is a proactive member of the CREC Resource Group (CRG) service delivery team. The Education Specialist will work with educators in the CREC region and across the state to improve teaching and learning for students with disabilities. As a member of the CREC Resource Group professional learning team, the Education Specialist will ensure that our products and services reflect our commitment to equity, anti-racist instruction, and social justice.

      Essential Functions

        Provide professional learning, instructional coaching and technical assistance to teachers, administrators, and other staff in one or more of the following areas:

          Early childhood special education
          Secondary transition
          Dyslexia, structured literacy, and the science of reading
          Multi-tiered systems of support, interventions for struggling students
          Quality special education programming and IEP writing
        Develop and promote special education professional learning to school and district educators
        Develop academic programs, workshops and resources designed to meet the specific needs of teaching and learning for students with disabilities
        Facilitate and participate in regional meeting(s) to implement state and federal initiatives;
        Coordinate several requests simultaneously and work collaboratively with various interest groups
        Advance, promote and implement CREC initiatives and duties as assigned
        Perform other related tasks as assigned.

      Qualifications

        A valid Connecticut State Department of Education certification in special education or related field with relevant experience
        5-7 years of teaching experience
        Experience in staff development and/or coaching (preferred)
        Demonstrated depth of knowledge of special education federal and state laws, current research-based and best practices in the field, characteristics and needs of students with a range of disability diagnosis, district and school systems
        Initiative to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth through a continuous learning cycle
        Experience presenting and facilitating in-person and virtually
        Strong oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills
        Knowledge of database management and online learning platforms
        Highly flexible and adaptive work style, with the ability to work irregular hours and prioritize among competing demands

      Travel Requirements

        Travel to schools throughout CT

      Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

        Works predominantly in a school setting or from a remote workspace
