WVSports.com, the premier online destination for comprehensive coverage of West Virginia University athletics, is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Sports Writer to join our team. Our ideal candidate is passionate about sports, has a knack for writing compelling content, and is eager to contribute to the growth of our platform.

This position is best for a writer with a flexible schedule to handle breaking news. Generally, this position is held by a student writer/intern. You must live in Morgantown or the surrounding area and relocating for this job would not make sense for most people.

Location: Morgantown, WV (required)

Key Responsibilities:

• Cover West Virginia University athletics with a focus on quick hitters, game summaries, and press conference articles
• Engage with our community by participating in forums and contributing to our podcast
• Collaborate with the WVSports.com team to develop content ideas and strategies

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Prior experience in sports writing and/or blogging
• Strong command of the English language with excellent writing skills

Desired Skills and Traits:

• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the ever-changing digital media landscape
• Passionate about West Virginia University athletics and knowledgeable about various sports
