When you work at Trex, you’re helping to grow and enhance a true original. You join a company that boldly launched an entire industry… and still leads the way.

We are looking for an EHS Specialist to help us coordinate and implement comprehensive EHS programs and initiatives. As a Trex EHS Specialist, you will be looked to as an innovator in the manufacturing process and expected to develop and deliver safety training, investigate incidents to identify and mitigate hazards and assist in updating/creating safety procedures and manuals. This role is a key member of our Supply Chain team.

Our Operations team is guided by 5 beliefs:

    1. We put people first
    2. We all operate on the same page
    3. We own it
    4. We are always tuned for success
    5. We make dynamic decisions

It’s how we started and how we continue to lead the industry – finding intersections of opportunity and hard work, digging in, and digging deep. The result is progress, both for the company and for the people building their careers here. If you are values-driven and share our beliefs, if you are willing to hold yourself and others accountable to the highest standards, then Trex is a place you can call home.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Put safety first – Always!
    • Lead and foster our “people first” culture
    • Coordinate with Site Leadership to determine needs for safety training and develop and/or assist in the creation of training courses needed.
    • Conduct mishap and near-miss investigations to identify uncontrolled hazards, verify hazard corrections, and monitor the effectiveness of existing hazard controls.
    • Partner with outside vendors, contractors, and engineers regarding EHS matters to drive projects to completion from a proactive approach.
    • Maintain current knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and laws to ensure all projects comply with company safety policies and client requirements and adhere to regulatory safety laws.
    • Assist with the creation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and conduct annual reviews of completed JHAs.
    • Coordinate and conduct Emergency Response Training and Drills with the Site Emergency Response Team
    • In coordination with the EHS Manager, assist with the evaluation and selection of new equipment and the development of related procedures.
    • Conduct safety and occupational health inspections.
    • Assist the EHS Manager with reviewing, creating, and updating EHS procedures, manuals, and supporting documents annually.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    EXPERIENCE

We are looking for leaders with a bachelor's degree along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant EHS experience. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant EHS experience will be considered. Experience working in both distribution and a manufacturing environment along with an OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.  We want to hear from you if you have previous experience as a Safety Coordinator.

At Trex, we believe in persevering even when there’s no road map, embracing groundbreaking as a way of life. We encourage multiple perspectives and welcome diverse people who problem-solve, adapt, and innovate – always with a firm foundation in safety and integrity.
