    Job Description

    Arizona State University (ASU), a leading innovator in Higher Education, is looking for an Electric Vehicle Transportation Manager within the Parking and Transit department who is ready to jump into an exciting role to help shape the University's electric fleet goals.

    The EV Transportation Manager for ASU manages the Shared Fleet program and helps to facilitate university-wide vehicle acquisition, ownership, and disposal. Both areas will require customer service, budget management, support strategic vehicle maintenance, and data analysis. 

    The position will work with a wide range of campus partners to provide cost-effective transportation solutions to university departments in support of university sustainability commitments. The position will primarily be based at a desk; however, some work outdoors may be required. This position will report to the Associate Director, Facility Maintenance for Parking and Transit Services.

     

    Salary Range

    $50,000 - $60,000 per year; DOE

    Essential Duties

    Shared Fleet Operations

    * Collaboration and education of department leaders on Fleet Management.

    * Manage assignment of vehicles to specific users and shared fleet needs.

    * Collaborate with Risk Management to conduct vehicle accident investigations.

    * Collaborate with FDM and external partners (e.g., utilities, municipalities) on EV 

    charging strategy.

    Data and Strategy

    * Oversee all ASU vehicles reporting to local, state, and federal government, 

    AASHE, and ad hoc requests.

    * Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements from ADOT and ADEQ, 

    including vehicle emission testing.

    * Manage and track all vehicle utilization.

    * Assist with and analyze current fleet system software to ensure it meets the goals 

    of the department with tracking, data, and recovery of vehicles.

    * Oversee vehicle ownership records including lease contracts and purchase 

    orders.

    * Develop and implement training modules for vehicles and equipment use and 

    care (e.g. electric vehicles). 

    * Develop department processes to meet the University's sustainability goals and 

    reduce the fleet's carbon footprint.

    * Implement current and long-term fleet planning activities, such as an annual 

    acquisition, retirement, and replacement of vehicles.

    * Collaborate with Purchasing on strategic partnerships for vehicle acquisition.

    * Ability to create reports and track Key Performance Indicators for all equipment.

    General

    * Nurture continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, 

    streamline work processes, and provide quality customer service.

    * Monitor service requests and the quality of customer service.

    * Clearly communicate to perform essential functions of the job.

    * Participate in various workshops and educational programs and maintain 

    knowledge of all industry-relevant publications.

    * Oversee safety strategy for vehicles and personnel in coordination with 

    Environmental Health and Safety through effective use of training, performance 

    management, and ongoing communication.

    * Review and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to address 

    incidents or crises affecting fleet operations.

    * Travel between ASU campuses required.

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree and 2 years experience, which included one year supervision experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    Valid driver's license to operate different modes of fleet

     

    Desired Qualifications

    Knowledge of fleet servicing, fleet scheduling, fleet analysis, and operations, specifically with electric vehicles.

    Industry experience with electric vehicles is a plus.

    Exceptional written and oral communication, including the editing, oversight, and preparation of reports.

    Skill in the presentation of information and reports.

    Experience and skill in developing and managing a budget.

    Excellent organization to manage a diverse and complex workload.

     

    Working Environment

    May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds. 

    May require standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions. 

    May be exposed to high noise levels and may require wearing hearing protection.

    Some travel may be required.
