    About the Role

    The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Manager at Bermex. This position will play a key role in water meter maintenance and installation.

    This position requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.

    Travel up to 100% of time to different projects while getting paid!

    What You’ll Do

    • Water Meter Maintenance
    • Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks
    • Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
    • Properly change out water meters of varying sizes and brands
    • Properly change out water meter registers for AMI / AMR upgrade
    • Water Meter Reading
    • Read electric, gas, and / or water meters
    • Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer
    • Additional projects as assigned
    • Customer Communication
    • Refers all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
    • May provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable
    • Use telephones, tablets, and / or computers to communicate

    About You

    Must haves :

    • Education : Some High School education. Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time to different projects around the

    Nice to haves :

    • Education : High School Degree
    • Experience (Strongly Preferred) : 1 year of experience changing out water meters and / or water meter registers.

    Your Skills :

    • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a team
    • Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling. Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends.
    • Adequate time management skills to finish daily meter reads in a timely manner, figuring out an efficient way to read meters for that day
    • Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting management and customers
    • Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner
    • Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding
    • Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly
    • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
    • Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational procedures

    This role would not be a good fit if :

    • You don’t enjoy working independently
    • Do not enjoy working in outdoor conditions
    • Do not enjoy walking long distances
    • Are not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule or routine
    • Do not have adequate planning and time management skills to finish a day’s work in a timely manner
    • Drug / alcohol testing is required
