Electrical Controls Engineer designs, develops, and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. May be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. Being an Electrical Controls Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Electrical Controls Engineer relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.     Principal duties and responsibilities:
    • Hands-on development and design of electrical systems, including high-voltage battery management systems, power electronics, motor control systems, and charging infrastructure.
    • Develop electrical architecture and harnessing solutions that integrate powertrain components 
    • Troubleshoot complex electrical systems and perform root-cause analysis
    • Support the development of suppliers to provide system components
     
    Experience Qualifications: 
    • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
    • 3 years experience in automotive electronics manufacturing
    • 3 years experience in high voltage circuit production and testing (5-250kW)
    • Proficiency with electrical schematic software
    • Proficiency with electronic measurement equipment such: LCR meters, hipot, power supplies, battery simulators, load banks, oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and data logging equip
    • Excellent verbal and written communications and analytical skills appropriate for interaction with team members (internal and external customers, suppliers, hardware engineers, test staff, and management)
    • Experience with hardware design reviews as a technical contributor
    • Experience in automotive, industrial vehicles, and electric vehicles is a plus
     
    Other Skills/Requirements:
    • Willingness to do hands-on work
    • Ability to work independently and within a team
    • Must be friendly, reliable, and have a positive attitude 
    • Able to lift and carry 40 pounds
    • Understand and work effectively with CANbus.
