    Purpose:

    As a Electrical Designer- Electrical at KE you will play a key role within our Pre-Construction team.  This person is the bridge between Estimation and Operations.  The Electrical Designer will be responsible for bringing an estimate from conceptual design to a finished project that is construction ready.   The Electrical Designer will work with our Estimators, Pre-Construction Managers, Drafters, and Project Managers throughout the design phase until it is ready to hand off to our Operations team.  KE performs Design Build projects, nationwide, in a variety of industries including but not limited to Biodiesel & Ethanol production facilities, Grain storage, Fertilizer Terminals, Feed & Flour Mills, Dairy Processing plants, and Cement/Aggregate plants, etc.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Verify vendor quotes and provide submittal packages
    • Participate in customer/client design review meetings and presentations
    • Assist in leading/managing engineering needs to ensure final product matches the “KE-Way” design
    • Complete conceptual engineering and or design for the following
      • Sizing conduit/cable to serve electrical equipment such as MCC’s, Switchboards, Panelboards, and Transformers
      • Comprehend MCC BOM’s and quotes to ensure that sizing, layouts, and controller types are accurate
      • Comprehend Switchgear BOM’s and quotes to ensure that sizing, layouts, and over current protection types are correct
      • Build conduit cable schedules to serve
        • Motors
        • Controls and instrumentation devices
        • Branch Circuiting
      • Knowledge of motor control devices such as VFD’s, Soft Starts, Networked MCC’s, and traditional across the line starters
      • Medium Voltage Distribution systems such as
        • Vacuum Fault Interrupters
        • Metal Clad MV Switchgear
        • MV transformers
        • Various MV Cable Types and terminations
      • Experience with Special systems such as
        • Network cabling
        • Instrumentation
        • Fire Alarm
        • Door access/Security systems
        • Grounding Systems
      • Act as a bridge from estimating to operations or Concept to reality
      • Additional duties as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Experience with BlueBeam, Revit, AutoCAD, Smartsheets, and Procore
    • A knowledge of electrical and or automation construction practices or industrial electrical work.
    • Knowledge of the NEC
    • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff, and customers
    • Effectively communicate using various methods including but not limited to Microsoft Teams, email, text, or phone calls
    • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills
    • Manage project files, drawings, documents & records in our project system
    • Journeyman Electricians License, a degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related, or equivalent combination of field experience/education
    • Excellent time management, and project tasking
    • Capable of being flexible to meet project deadlines
    • Must be self-motivated, and flexible to accommodate changes in KE business strategies
    • Ability to problem solve and take accountability for decisions on projects. 
    • Possess and maintain a valid driving license
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
    • Ability to have team first mentality
    • Ability to teach and mentor other members of the group
    • Open to occasional travel

    • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for long periods of time. 
    • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
