The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and supporting the design of tracker control systems, providing technical support for currently deployed tracker control systems including customer support at remote locations, and testing the functionality of tracker control systems. This candidate will oversee a testing laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical/electronic engineering background and experience working with electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee a testing laboratory.
- Evaluate and test tracker control systems.
- Review electrical schematic designs, generate bills of material, purchase BOMs from various vendors, and assemble the final design.
- Improve control equipment, support software, and hardware engineering in the continuous improvement of tracker control systems.
- Test the functionality of electrical equipment based on system diagrams and test parameters provided by engineers.
- Create conceptual designs for internal test equipment using block diagrams, circuit schematics, and test boards, like breadboards.
- Conduct firmware/electrical testing based on test requirement designs by electrical and software engineers.
- Travel to solar tracker sites to perform troubleshooting, commissioning, retrofitting, and other technical support.
- Excellent soldering abilities, and other electronics laboratory skills.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in electrical/electronic technology through an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved program.
- 3 to 5 years of electrical/electronic engineer technician experience.
- Travel to remote sites up to 30% annually.
- Experience working with electrical systems in buildings and fields.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and principles.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Ability to work with laboratory equipment including oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply, soldering iron, and precision hand tools.
