The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is looking for a Maintenance Specialist, Electrician, Journey 2/Lead to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

    Our organization, mission, and culture:
ANC is an award-winning airport in many categories.  Our team works as a cohesive unit to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the airport.   Our airport receives every kind of aircraft including small general aviation up to the largest cargo aircraft in the world. Our electricians maintain the most advance and newest airfield lighting system in the world.  We maintain the largest airport in the state of Alaska which is the 4th busiest cargo airport in the world. The ANC Airfield Maintenance Station is made up of 109 staff who work cooperatively to operate and maintain regulatory certification and compliance of this important FAR Part 139 and TSA 1542 airport and roads. This also includes the busiest seaplane base in the world.

The working environment you can expect:
The Anchorage Airport (ANC) is located in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska. While we strive to create a collaborative 'team' work environment, the ANC environment can be fast paced with frequently changing conditions. Priorities change in an instant, and a successful applicant will change along with them. At ANC the greatest feeling of success comes in keeping Alaska moving in the face of challenges. Located at the airport in Anchorage, Alaska, you work in a scenic setting away from the more rural parts of the state with all the convenience of urban life.

The benefits of joining our team:
ANC is equipped with some of the most advanced maintenance facilities and equipment giving employees an opportunity to learn how to maintain a vast spectrum of electrical systems.  Benefits are provided by the State of Alaska and are very generous such as 8 hours of paid leave each pay period, medical/vision/dental benefits and a 401K and premium pay for working on the holidays. Most of all, you will participate in performing activities directly related to the safety of all the flying traveling public and users. Working for ANC you are provided many opportunities to participate in professional career development, including AAAE training and certifications, FAA conferences, and State of Alaska Airport Managers training conferences. We are the ones counted on to carry out many routine tasks without notice or recognition. Yet, we are at our best when things get tough.

    What you will be doing:
With little supervision, professionally maintain the electrical systems associated with the Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, airfield lighting systems, overhead lighting on the exterior of the buildings, street lighting, lift stations, pilot-controlled gates and other electrical controls.  The airport is a dynamic environment that is exciting and challenging to work on.  The combination of advance systems while the conditions are constantly changing offers a challenge to an electrician’s skills.

The candidate will maintain and repair all the electrical systems on the airfield and around the complex in all weather conditions.   They must also be able to communicate clearly on company and air to ground radios.  Other duties are cleaning and maintaining of equipment, rebuilding lighting fixtures, perform locates for both construction and in-house construction projects, test back-up generators and inspect the airfield lighting.

As a part of the AFM crew the candidate will inspect and repair lighting systems in all conditions. Whether replacing light fixtures on runway and taxiway during “white out” conditions during a snow event, taking a boat onto the lake to repair fixtures or training for any emergency that may occur, these are just a few of the situations you can find us in while making the difficult seem routine day after day. We truly keep Alaska moving!
