Electronic Technician jobs in Newark, NJ

Purpose:

Electronic Technician repairs and improves existing electronic systems and assists in developing updated electronic systems or components for railcars.

Primary Responsibilities

• Repairs, installs, and inspects electronic systems and components through reading and interpreting schematic diagrams, verbal/written directions and specifications.
• Performs basic testing, determines causes of test failures, and records testing documentation.
• Assists in designing testing/troubleshooting procedures.
• Assesses potential risks and issues of electrical equipment and report to the supervisor.
• Collaborates with other departments to make necessary adjustments to electronic systems.
• May recommend repairing methods to improve the quality of electronic products.
• Assists with other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of education in a technical school in lieu of a minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• Electronic aptitude required; mechanical knowledge a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving ability.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from instructions.
• Must have willingness to learn and curiosity to identify areas of opportunity.
• Professional demeanor and team player.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Computer skills: MS Office (Word and Excel), other data entry systems.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,700.00 - $52,000.00 per year
